Key Points:
Winners & Losers is the new drama (with a comedic touch) from network seven in Australia. It is from the producers of Packed To The Rafters, one of Australia's biggest hit dramas of recent years which has attracted an average audience share of 33%. The show creator is Bevan Lee who is also responsible for Packed to the Rafters. The premise of the show is that the four main characters - Bec, Jenny, Frances and Sophie are ten years on from being the losers at school, tortured by their nemesis, Tiffany Turner, and their lives have mostly moved on. But a High School reunion sees them bullied back into the toilets until they take revenge and go out for a night out and end up winning the lottery. This is a story of four women, their friendship, their loves, their lives - what makes them laugh, what makes them cry and how winning the lottery doesn't necessarily make their lives better. It is set in Melbourne - showcasing the beauty of the city - blue skies and modern cityscapes feature heavily. This is a big launch for Seven - with a commission of 22 episodes - it's fun, fresh and has global appeal as a feel-good drama. They have been promoting it since January with on-air sneak peeks, bus-sides and print ads. After 20 episodes - Winners & Losers has attracted a solid following and been one of Australia's most watched dramas attracting 1.4m (37%) viewers on average exceeding the channel's average by 34% It is Muriel's Wedding meets Ugly Betty meets Sex and The City. Packed to the Rafters has sold to Belgium (VTM), Netherlands (NET5), Ireland (RTE1), South Africa (SET), Italy (Joi), Portugal (Sony), Germany (Passion/Vox) aka Die Chaosfamilie and Croatia (HRT)/ Episode run times range from 42:01 - 45:37.
