Brief Synopsis:
Archie Daley is a sharp-suited wheeler dealer with an interest in anything likely to make a quick bit of cash. Keeping an eye on Archie throughout his misguided capers is his charismatic minder, Jamie Cartwright, a former boxer, soldier and ex-con who is now driving a black cab for a living. In the first series of this new version of the classic show, Archie and Jamie come into contact with greedy property developers, dodgy councillors and several ex-business associates of Archie's who he would rather not see again.

Key Points:
A remake of the original drama series of the 1980's which starred George Cole and Dennis Waterman. The remake stars Shane Ritchie (Eastenders) and Lex Shrapnel - who is an up and coming talent from the theatre (and Deborah Kerr's grandson!). The average audience has been 1.8 million. Which is higher than the Five slot average. Guest stars include Rik Mayall (Bottom), Steve Pemberton (League of Gentlemen), Maureen Lipman, Josie Lawrence, Meera Syal (Goodness Gracious Me). This comedy drama series is stylish - very 'London' and very 'lads'. This series is shot on HD and on location in London. The international TV version is full of current British music however this had to be stripped out for the World DVD due to clearances. The theme music is a new version of the classic show's theme music 'I could be so good for you'. It has been re-recorded by The Attic Lights. The UK DVD was released 16th March 2009.

Press Coverage / Other Information:
FIVE put significant weight behind their advertising for the launch of MINDER including advertising on telephone boxes, minicabs and large posters all intended to show the difficult situations in which Archie and Jamie somehow end up. The campaign also targetted pubs around football matches with Minder beermats and bluetooth versions of the theme music. "FIVE has done a fantastic job with the new Minder. Shane Richie is a natural in the role and the writing is tight and funny." The Independent "The whole thing is so beautifully cinematically shot and with such attention to the minutiae." The Daily Mail
